it's cabin time™ in Great Falls
Renting a Great Falls cabin is the start to one of your most memorable vacations. Whether you’re traveling with your spouse or the whole family (or your friends), you are sure to find the perfect lodge or vacation home in Great Falls! Great Falls, the third largest city in Montana, is located on the magnificent Missouri River.
You will find picturesque mountain views, lush gardens, and freshwater springs in the area. Great Falls gets its name from the five waterfalls located around the city. Interestingly, the Lewis and Clark Expedition (1805-1806) had to go around a 10-mile section of the Missouri River to avoid these waterfalls. To learn more about the expedition and their time in the area, be sure to check out the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center.
Once you leave your Great Falls vacation home for the day, you’ll love spending time outdoors in this beautiful region. Explore the River’s Edge Trail, which is the main pedestrian path in Great Falls. It follows the river and is 60 miles long. Go for a walk or ride a bike to discover the city’s splendor. Giant Springs State Park is along the trail and boasts one of the largest freshwater springs in the country! While you’re there, dip your feet into the warm, 54-degree spring water. What an experience!
There are many other areas to hike around Great Falls- You may even want to hike to visit one of the falls that inspired the city’s name. For an adrenaline rush, take a day to ski at Showdown Montana. Located within the Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest, it is one of the oldest operating ski areas in the state. You may not be able to discover all 640 acres while on your skiing adventure, but it will be fun trying!
After your day of exploration, you’ll find that Great Falls offers many restaurant choices. Visit The Celtic Cowboy for a delicious Irish meal. And a bonus: Their bar offers over 100 different kinds of whiskeys and over 30 beers on tap. Check out Roadhouse Diner to try their Death by Bacon burger or the Widowmaker Burger.
If you think that might be a little too much for your taste buds, you can always build-your-own burger at the diner. For dessert, grab a slice of fresh fudge from Candy Masterpiece. Yum! The city has many other dining options as well, ranging from pizza to upscale cuisine.
After your scrumptious meal, check out one of the shops on Central Avenue. You’ll find clothing, outdoor gear, a bookshop, and more. Enjoy a unique shopping experience in charming Great Falls!
