Looking for a private location where your neighbors are deer and the occasional moose? Our cabin is 400 feet off the county road and nestled in a patch of trees. It is also within 5 minutes walking distance of the Jefferson River's Silver Star fishing access site. We have private fishing right here at the ranch too: Find Brown Trout and Rainbow Trout in the spring creek.
Sleeping arrangement: Features a common sleeping area on the second floor. 1 king bed, 2 queen beds, and a single bed.
This is a hand-built log cabin was built by the owner/custom log builder, Chip Ashcraft. The large cottonwood logs came from the banks of the Big Hole river, 20 miles from Silver Star, MT. Get ready for some incredible views of the Tobacco Root Mountains and Manhead. Great country, great vacation!
Silver Star is one of the oldest towns in the state and is a magnet for fly fishers and hunters. Watch for a collection of very large, antique mining equipment as you drive through town.
Some of Montana’s best trout fishing is steps away, on the Jefferson River. Several easy access points are perfect for wade fishing. If hunting is your bag, we offer White-Tail hunting on the ranch property. Ask us about Elk and Mule Deer hunting options nearby.
Exploring area rivers is easy. Your ranch cabin is just downstream from the famous Big Hole, Beaverhead, and Ruby Rivers. The Madison River is a 1 hour drive. Live like a local and stop at the Butte Farmer’s Market, the World Museum of Mining and the Lewis and Clark Caverns State Park (Montana’s first state park). If you have time, we recommend visiting Virginia City, Montana too.
